3 Ways to Find Your Best Health

3 Ways to Find Your Best Health

There are so many foods we can easily incorporate into our everyday that can help you feel your best. Are you dragging every day trying to find the energy to make it to the next meeting, the daily mom-taxi drop off/pick up, or to muster up the motivation to hit the gym like the boss that you are or should be? Look no further, here is where you will find some advantageous variety to add into your daily routine.

Stay Hydrated

Green Tea is my favorite low caffeine drink for boosting metabolism. Not only does it provide that much needed kick, it also gives you a little extra energy without all the caffeine and sugar that coffee or sports drinks may provide. My favorite Tea brands are Numi and Yogi because they’re organic, natural and don’t have a lot of fillers. There are so many tasty-healthy options to choose from when it comes to the flavor your taste buds will enjoy. Adding a cup or two of green tea daily, will not only help you stay hydrated, but also help you burn more calories. It is a win – win situation when it comes to your health.

Sometimes it’s a struggle to make sure you get your daily intake of water. This is my saving grace when it comes to hydration. I was recently at my yearly doctor appointment when my doctor came in after assessing my lab work and said “You’re so hydrated, I wish all my patients had lab work like this!” I thanked her and told her I am always making sure to drink several cups of green tea as well as meeting my daily water intake every day. Your water or fluid intake should be around 100 ounces per day.

Protein Rich Foods

Protein rich foods are another way to burn more fat and boost your metabolism because they require more energy for total digestion. Some examples of lean proteins to incorporate into your diet include egg whites, chicken, fish, nuts, beans, and turkey. I am often telling my clients that protein is a huge part of building lean mass. It is one of the golden keys to successful weight loss.

Another option for those who cannot stomach one more piece of chicken, is whey protein. Whey protein powder is my top choice for clients when it comes to lean protein shakes. However, this is not an option for some people with dairy allergies. For those with dairy or soy allergies, bone broth protein is a great alternative. Bone broth is also good for gut health. When searching for the perfect protein shake, be sure to look for 3rd party certified companies. Third-party testing means that the final product complies with specific standards for quality, performance, and safety. This Fit Chick always makes sure my supplements are 3rd party tested!

High Fiber Foods

Fibrous foods are another golden key to healthy weight loss, heart health, and being able to fit into those skinny jeans. Protein and fiber are crucial for weight loss and that lean tummy line. Combining the two foods together can become of powerhouse of goodness for your body. Fibrous foods such as oatmeal, greek yogurt, flax seeds, chia seeds, fruits, and vegetables are all great options. So many clients are afraid of fruits because of the natural sugar content. Fruit and vegetables are not what brings the extra pounds on. Instead, it is the processed and packaged foods with the unnecessary additional calories, sugar, fat, and high sodium that negatively impact the American diet.

Whole foods such as zucchini, carrots, beets, broccoli, strawberries, apples, and bananas are all good examples of high fibrous fruits and vegetables. I truly enjoy growing my own fruits and veggies in the garden. There is nothing more rewarding than when your hard works pays off, whether it be in the garden or the gym.

Overnight oats or a morning protein shake with oats and fruit are always a great way to start your day. I like to add a spoon of chia or flax seed in for good measure. A high fiber diet brings a happy heart and a happy belly.

Small Changes = Long Term Results

Making small daily changes over time can help you obtain long term results. Food is fuel for the body. Remember that when you consume the coveted high sugar, caramel or clear colored carbonated beverages (I won’t name any names) you are fueling your body with sludge. My favorite saying is that we should eat to live, not live to eat.
